Monday 13th January Brainscan (1994)
As part of my horror blog I watch and review many horror movies that many in the horror community may not have heard of...Brainscan from 1994 is certainly one of them.
Directed by John Flynn it stars Young John Conner himself Edward Furlong as Michael, a bored horror fanatic who is infatuated by his next door neighbour and runs a horror club in high school much to the dismay of the principal. He finds a horror CD-Rom game (in Fangoria magazine of all places) called 'Brainscan', A game where you commit a murder in First-Person view. Only the day after he plays it there is a murder reported on the news and it's exactly the same as the murder he portrayed in the game itself.

He is then tormented to by a being from the game called 'Trickster' (T.Ryder Smith) who forces him to keep playing the game as they're witnesses and evidence that he must dispose of in order to evade the local police who are lead by Detective Hayden (Frank Langella). I'm quite fond of this movie, The soundtrack is decent with songs by Pitchshifter and Primus, The main theme is great too.
T.Ryder Smith as Trickster is such a stand out performance, His make-up and Punk look is wicked. Frank Langella does well as the bold/harsh detective who pretty much suspects Michael from the start. Edward Furlong's performance as a young teenager scared out of his wits about what to do was fine, In some cases this horror is underrated. But do you think that horror video games are at times responsible for people becoming killers or criminals?..I will consider a mid-week article on the subject in the very near future.
A Generous 3/5 Underrated Early Horror Gaming.
Would love to get your thoughts on 'Brainscan'
