So for my first movie i have chosen the one that has re-ignighted my love for Horror altogether which is the 2013 remake of the 1981 cult classic 'Evil Dead'. When it was announced that Evil Dead was going to be remade we all had our doubts and fears as Evil Dead is considered to be one of the greatest Horror Cult movies of all-time. We were then informed that Bruce Campbell was the one who approved the re-make to happen we had to trust in Ash that this was going to be Great, You saw the 1st production pic from the remake of Mia under popping out from under the basement...I got goosebumps Then The trailers popped up on Youtube...I got Mega-Goosebumps.
The more info i saw online about the production of Evil Dead, That it was directed by Fede Alvarez (a director I had not known or heard about before Evil Dead) and that 95% of the effects were gonna be practical and not cgi built up the anticipation for Evil Dead that much more...This in my mind was one of the reasons why the Evil Dead saga has been the success that it has been because of how the practical effects were used in the 1981 version. Also no one at the time knew who Sam Raimi was either when The Evil Dead was released so it was good to see them follow a similar pattern with Alvarez. This movie was gonna be talked about throughout 2013..but for good reasons..or bad.
I saw Evil Dead (2013) opening night in Cardiff and I 'Enjoyed' it, It satisfied me as a fan of the franchise and in no way did the movie let me down...but for some unexplained reason the words 'Brilliant', 'Fantastic' and 'LOVED' it failed to come out of my voice that night when I discussed Evil Dead to my work colleges that night in Cardiff. Then i got the DVD back in September to watch once more..and again..and again...I pretty much watched it 3 times in 2 weeks..I LOVE EVIL DEAD (2013).

I liked the reason they were there was to get their friend to go 'Cold Turkey' off drugs..Interesting Premiss. The soundtrack was very creepy and chilling. Spanish composer Roque Baños gives a very 'abandoned'/'No Hope' atmosphere to the movie. Jane Levy's performance as 'Mia' was Fantastic, from recovering drug addict or possessed deadite to Last One Standing she put 100% into every scene. Lou Taylor Pucci was funny as 'Eric',The family issues between 'David' and 'Mia' was good. I liked how they made it look like 'David' was gonna be the new 'Ash', They did not hold back from the gore and the violence which again were mostly practical effects. It was funny, gruesome and there were some winks to the original Evil Dead trilogy too. To those who own the DVD/Blu-Ray copies if you haven't already I highly recommend you watch the extras which include a great documentary about the making of Evil Dead.
