Sunday 12th January-Sinister (2012)
I had heard a lot of mixed reviews from different people so I thought I'd give this a look. Sinister is about a True-Crime writer played by Ethan Hawke ( Training Day, The Purge) who moves himself and his family into a home where a previous murder had occurred where he finds a box in a basement that includes a Super-8 projector and films showing families being murdered..As he investigates the murders further he then starts believing that the murders are the works of a paranormal entity.
This movie for me was pretty scary...at times. I think the writers (Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill had the correct approach with the plot being a crime-thriller with a supernatural twist but I thought they could've brought more to the movie like more kills or more of the Entity itself. It did take a while for things to kick-off also, There are a few good scares and the twist at the end is good but altogether it could've been better.
2/5 A good plot that could've been better.
