Tuesday 6th January-Red Dragon (2002)
I am a fan of the Hannibal Lecter trilogy including 'Red Dragon' which many horror fans are (let's be honest) not too keen on. Based on the novel by Thomas Harris, Retired FBI agent Will Graham (Edward Norton) is asked by Agent Jack Crawford (Harvey Keitel) to assist the FBI once more in capturing a serial killer who is referred to as 'The Tooth Fairy' (Ralph Fiennes) Eventually Agent Graham is in need of the assistance of Dr Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins).
Not a great deal of violence in this one but when there is it's pretty Sinister. The main cast perform well and as usual Anthony Hopkins is on his A-Game as the chilling yet highly entertaining Hannibal. Great performances from the supporting cast also which includes Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Emily Watson. I kinda feel bad for Ralph Fiennes as I though the character of 'The Tooth Fairy' could've been a bit more sinister but he's more angry and has personality disorders that don't strike too much fear on screen. But I still do like Red Dragon, It's a good thriller and the more you watch it the more you appreciate it. One thing that did stand out for me was the Lighting...The way everything looked more rough and edgier then the past 2 movies (Silence/Hannibal) Just something I picked up on.
3.5/5 Not a bad sequel...obviously not the best of the trilogy
