Truth Or Dare (2013) From Film Four Frightfest 2014
This was one I was most highly anticipating as it had a lot of love in the independent circuit. This movie has already won just under 30 awards so clearly there was something to look forward to.
The story follows a group of young adults called the ‘Truth or Daredevils’ who make a video online and become an internet sensation overnight. They become famous all around the world and make many obsessed fans. One more obsessed then all. During a TV Interview a fan overly expresses his love for the daredevils and begs to join the team. When he is denied (and thrown out of the studio by security…Literally I mean) he is felt betrayed & shunned by them. So he crashed one of the daredevil’s videos with a gun and with chilling intentions. He ties up the team and put’s them though a sadistic, revealing and bloody game of Truth or Dare. This is a game where deep dark secrets are opened up to the group which lead to consequences and dares that are not for those with a weak heart.

I have to admit. I love my gore in movies but this movies goes to new lengths to really make the audience uneasy and turn from the screen. Which [personally I think is AWESOME. The characters are very well developed too and the secrets they try so hard to hide are pretty messed up. The violence does not hold back for one second and even when you think they've reached the line believe me they go beyond the line…to be honest when they were making this the line pretty much didn't exist which is an example that all horror movies or any movies who want gore in their movies to be following. The Stand out performance is obviously Ryan Kiser as the obsessed fan who is a ticking time-bomb throughout. Jessica’s Character also stood out for me in what she does. The music in the opening as well as the opening credits are pretty bad-ass also.
Altogether this need to be released in Cinemas all over the world like YESTERDAY. If the censors now well they should allow this to be released as intended with nothing cut out as it just defeats the purpose of film making altogether (it appears I have a film censorship article to write ASAP)
5/5…Arguably the best film I saw at Frightfest. It’s won just under 30 awards for a reason.
